1906 Martin Daniel Schuyler's Model, "America"

This unique double body 0-28 Style guitar was produced for Daniel Schuyler, who lived in Pennsylvania only miles from the Martin factory. 

Only this single guitar was produced at this time.  A second Model America was produced in 1909.







Both Style 28 bodies are complete.  While it is barely visible, the rosewood back of the top body has a marquetry center strip, and the back body has a complete decorated rosette and herringbone top borders.




This instrument has a fascinating bridge not seen in any other Martin.











This guitar originally had a 1/4" soundpost, as found in violins, connecting the two bodies.  Here you can see where it was mounted...
